On June 6, 2017, Jason Gardner, 15, was attacked by a group of white boys near an aqueduct behind his home community, Cedarwood Trails mobile home park in New Haven, Indiana.

Adopted brothers, Tony Askew, 13, and Jason Gardner, on the couch with their dog, Blanket, close to three months after the attack. Jason is feeling tense about his court date scheduled for the next day, where he'd have to be in the same room as the boy he accused of assaulting him.

Jason's mother, La'Kysha Gardner, gets emotional talking about Jason's attack and the family's fight for justice. The night before the scheduled hearing the

family found out it was cancelled, pushing off the closure they were hoping for.

The Gardner family's rented new home in Fort Wayne after leaving Cedarwoods Trails. The famiy had initially moved to Cedarwoods to save money for college tuition for Amari, their oldest son.

After two hours of waiting at the court house, the hearing, is postponed for the second time. Jason left to sit under a tree outside the courthouse immediately after hearing the news.
